How Manifestations Doesn’t Always Look Like You Expect
When I posted Ritual of Coffee I noticed a Vision Board in my photo files that I hadn’t paid attention to for a long time. My Vision Board. I added it as the feature photo because I liked the aesthetic for the theme. Then, I looked closer.
The vision board was made in December 2023. Where I was then was an in-between stage, similar to where I am now. Yet, completely different. In November of that year, I had savings, very little debt, and a plan to move to a new home. I made a budget and a plan to be completely out of debt by the time my lease was up in six months. The day after I budgeted out my plan I was informed my role was redundant. Not certain of my next steps, I created my first and only vision board shortly before New Year’s 2024. It stayed on my computer for about four months and then I took it off my wallpaper. Just like my journals of woe and whining, I didn’t want the reminder of what wasn’t.
When I looked at the Vision Board yesterday, I noticed the alleged obstacles over the last three years were experiences that were part of my Vision Board. At the time, I couldn’t make up my mind about living in Southern Oregon or Northern Arizona. The weird town of Prescott was a feature. Especially the Hotel St. Michael. In the two and a half years I’ve lived in Prescott, I’ve been teased about the “ghost bartender” who gave me a free soda and intriguing conversation one lonely Friday night. He was initially the reason the St. Michael’s Lobby Bar became a weekly destination. I never saw the bartender again and no one remembered him, but I did meet odd real life characters who would enrich almost any story.
A year ago I went to the Santa Monica Pier and beach with my daughter after I helped her move to LA. The original plan was to leave early, so I could get back to Arizona before sunset. A broken gate that delayed that trapped my car at her apartment meant I stayed a few extra hours and had the chance to remember how much I love the energy of the coastline.
I’ve been exposed to more art and music, asked questions, expanded my skills, had opportunities show up seemingly out of nowhere, and made wonderful memories in this strange little town.
Today, on my birthday, I am taking a little time to reflect on what I want my next three years to look like. I have books with plans and sketches and ideas that would work IF I put the effort in and didn’t constantly distract myself. But, maybe that distraction of not just going from Destination A to B is what keeps life from getting stale.
